Join Pastor Cyndi, Pastor Paula, and the Stephen Ministers for Holy Communion during the Advent Season after Wednesday night supper. In this brief yet meaningful time, we’ll read scripture, light candles in prayer, and open the altar rail for those who would like someone to pray with them. We especially invite anyone who has experienced a loss this year, making it difficult to face the holiday season.

Children's Sabbath
Come to worship with the joy of a child, for the Children's Sabbath on October 27th at 11:00 am. Come and support the children as they lead with your presence and praise as they make a joyful noise unto the Lord! You won't want to miss our child led service!! These kids have been working so hard to sing with The Way praise band, read scripture, and be in charge.

Worship - Africa Sunday
One combined worship service at 11:00 a.m. followed by a meal in the Fellowship Hall. ALL are invited!
It’s time to celebrate our African brothers and sisters in Christ. You won’t want to miss this engaging and lively worship time! Stay for lunch in the Fellowship Hall after the service featuring traditional African dishes, vegetarian options available.
Worship - Blessing of the Backpacks
Prepare for the school year by bringing your backpack for a blessing.
On Sunday, August 18th, at both the 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. worship services, students from preschool to college age are invited to bring your backpack for a blessing and start the school year off right!
One Service & Potluck Lunch
Celebrate the 2024 Confirmation class, high school, and college graduates. Bring a dish for a churchwide potluck afterwards.

He has risen! He has risen indeed! Easter morning is a glorious day of worship with three services celebrating the resurrection of Jesus!

Good Friday Worship
A solemn and meaningful service in the Sanctuary commemorating Jesus’ crucifixion.
Stations of the Cross
Open daily from 3-7pm
In this prayerful journey, participants move from one station to the next, experiencing Jesus’ last hours with art, scripture, devotions and interactive elements. Each station reflects a moment in the gospel story from Jesus entering Jerusalem on Palm Sunday to the women going to the tomb early on Easter morning.
Palm Procession and Easter Cantata
A glorious celebration at both 9:30 and 11 am worship services. Worship opens with children processing with palms followed by a musical journey to the cross and resurrection. Both services feature both the choir and orchestra. Learn more
Holy Week at McKendree

Leadership Recognition Sunday
Join us on January 28, 2024 for the Leadership Recognition Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. worship services. Come celebrate the wonderful people that lead McKendree UMC as each of the leaders is recognized.
Worship January 14 - Remembrance of Baptism
In both services we will read the story of Jesus’ baptism as we remember our baptism. In our baptism vows we renounce the spiritual forces of wickedness, reject the evil powers of this world, and repent of sin. We accept the freedom and power God gives to resist evil, injustice, and oppression in whatever forms they present themselves.
