Plan a visit for Sunday.

Your experience should be meaningful.

Whether this is your first visit or your millionth time to McKendree UMC, we want your worship service to be a welcoming and meaningful experience in which you can grow closer to God and other people.

Which worship service should I attend?

That depends on who you ask! Both services are structured around the scripture for the day, with the music selections, prayers, and sermons all focused on the scripture’s theme.

Yep. Josh and all the Praise Team have a great time leading music.

9:30 a.m. Contemporary Worship

The McKendree Praise Team features drums, piano, bass guitar, guitar, and keyboard. You can stand, sit, clap, or sing, but never be bored!

The Chancel Choir sings “We’ve Got the Spirit” to introduce the worship series on the book of Acts.

11:00 a.m. Traditional Worship

You may hear music from the choir, piano, bell choirs, orchestra, and a wide variety of ensembles and soloists. You’ll sing hymns and be part of a liturgy that helps set your heart in a posture of reverence towards God.

Combined Worship Service

Occasionally, we have a combined service so that we can share a meal or a service project together. These offer the best of both services!

Where do I enter the building?

Sanctuary entrance for worship at McKendree UMC Lawrenceville GA

The easiest entrance is underneath the steeple. You’ll be right at the sanctuary.

It’s easiest to find your way if you will park in one of the visitor spots near the steeple. As soon as you enter you’ll be greeted. Don’t hesitate to ask if you need something!

Enter the sanctuary for worship, or walk a few steps ahead for coffee and donuts. Stop by the welcome desk if you have any questions. We want to make sure that you feel at home!

What else would you like to know?

Will I have to stand or say anything?

No, we want you to be comfortable and not feel like anyone is putting you on the spot. We hope you will check in using the pew pads or check in here. We promise we won’t stalk you, just reach out with a thank you note so that you will know how to contact us!

How long is a worship service?

Both services are about an hour long.

Can I participate in Holy Communion?

Children receive communion during worship.

Yes. Period. Jesus seemed to like eating with everyone, and we follow his example. You don’t have to be a member of this church, to have taken any special classes, or be a minimum age. We always have gluten free elements and prepackaged elements for those who prefer these. We don’t want anyone to feel left out.

Should I bring kids to worship?

For sure! Don’t worry about whether they are noisy, God put the wiggle in kids.

At the 9:30 service, there is a nursery for children up to 5 years old (room N119). Older children and those who prefer to stay with their parents can get a worship activity bag from the back of the sanctuary.

At 11 am worship, children are invited to come forward and be part of a “time with young disciples”. Afterward, children are invited to go to age-appropriate Sunday School classes. On the first Sunday of the month, they will return at the end of worship to participate in Holy Communion. Other weeks, parents can pick them up from the nursery N119 (3 and 4 years) or education building (Kindergarten through 5th grade). An usher is glad to show you the way!

All volunteers have been screened with detailed background checks as well as trained to make church a fun and safe environment for your kids! For questions about kids programming contact us at aprice@mckendreeumc.org.

What about babies?

We love babies! And we take their care and safety very seriously. All of our nursery staff have been screened with detailed background checks, are trained in CPR, first aid, and Safe Sanctuaries.  If you have any questions, contact Alison at aprice@mckendreeumc.org.
