Ash Wednesday - February 14
At McKendree United Methodist, we want to help you experience Easter resurrection by helping you grow in your faith over the next 40 days.
It all starts with Ash Wednesday. Drive through the parking lot on Wednesday morning and roll down your window. We’ll ask how we can pray for you and mark the sign of the cross on you. The ashes are a sign of grieving for the ways we have lived, not trusting in God and God’s ways. But we make the sign of the cross with these because the cross is God’s answer to our sin: grace. Be sure to get a “to go” cup of coffee with that!
The evening worship service features both the praise team and the choir. We especially invite children to be part of this, and they will help serve Holy Communion. They know what it’s like to feel regret, and be sorry. They also recognize when times are holy and precious.
Experience the blessing of Ash Wednesday. Begin a holy Lenten season.
