WORSHIP VOLUNTEERS - WE NEED YOU!

Looking for a way to make a real impact? Serving as an usher, A/V team member, or by creating our announcement slides allows you to help create a welcoming, engaging worship experience that connects people to Christ. No experience is needed—just a heart for serving and building community. Whether you’re greeting people, running sound, or using your creativity, your role makes a difference in how we grow as disciples together!

Audiovisual (A/V) Team Members play a key role in helping McKendree UMC make disciples of Jesus Christ by creating a smooth, distraction-free worship experience. Each service has three roles: camera (for streaming), slides, and sound, with a current need for someone to run sound. No experience is required—training is provided, and we have a supportive team leader. Members set up and operate equipment, adjust sound levels, advance slideshows, and troubleshoot issues. Volunteers serve for the morning, arriving by 8:00 a.m. (slides and sound) or 9:00 a.m. (camera) for a technical meeting. Most serve monthly or more frequently.

Ushers are vital role in creating a welcoming environment at McKendree UMC, where 'people do life together, connecting all through Christ.' They greet and assist congregants, provide handouts, help with seating, collect the offering, and guide communion. This role is perfect for friendly, outgoing individuals who enjoy making others feel comfortable. Ushers arrive 20 minutes before the 9:30 a.m. or 11:00 a.m. services and stay a few minutes afterward. They can serve monthly or more frequently.

Announcement slides are one of the first things people see when they arrive or join online.  This role is crucial in creating a welcoming environment and sharing opportunities for connection, service, and growth, directly supporting our mission of making disciples and our vision of 'people doing life together, connecting all through Christ.' This weekly role takes about 3 hours and is perfect for someone with a good eye for graphics and basic computer skills. While training is provided on the technical side, an eye for design is important.
