The resurrection of Jesus offers hope for abundant life today and eternal life tomorrow. But the journey to the cross gives a deeper appreciation for this gift. You are invited to journey with McKendree UMC and rejoice with Christians everywhere on Easter morning!
March 24: Palm Sunday, 9:30 & 11 am, in person and online
A glorious worship service in which children are invited to parade into worship waving palm branches, followed by the story of Jesus’ journey to the cross, led by the choir and orchestra.
March 26-29: Stations of the Cross Prayer Walk and Art Exhibit, open daily from 3-7 pm
In this prayerful journey, participants move from one station to the next, experiencing Jesus’ last hours with art, scripture, devotions, and interactive elements.
March 29: Good Friday Worship, 7 pm, in person and online
A solemn and meaningful service commemorating Jesus’ crucifixion. Childcare provided.
March 31: Easter Sunday, in person and online
Celebrate the resurrection of Jesus andwhat it means for each of us.
7 am: Outdoor sunrise service (in case of rain, service will be moved to the Sanctuary)
9:30 am: Praise service led by the McKendree UMC Praise Band
11 am: Traditional service with music from the choir, orchestra and handbells. *The congregation is invited to join the choir on the chancel for the Hallelujah Chorus at the end of the service.
FLOWER CROSS: One of the favorite McKendree traditions is bringing flowers to cover the cross in front of the church on Easter morning! You are invited to bring cut flowers on Easter morning and add them to the cross on your way into worship.
